GMI INVESTS IN A LARGE-FORMAT TUBE BENDING MACHINE FOR METAL FABRICATION PROJECTS

Groupe Maillard Industrie is strengthening its metal fabrication capabilities with the addition of a new large-format tube bending machine to its 55,000 m² production facilities.

This strategic investment expands the solutions GMI can offer manufacturers for producing complex tubular components, welded structures and metal assemblies in small and medium production runs.

A new capability for large-format tubular components

This fully electric industrial tube bender can process parts measuring up to 6 metres in length.

Featuring reversible right-hand and left-hand bending together with three multi-radius, multi-level tooling stations, the machine provides considerable flexibility for producing a wide variety of shapes and geometries.

Its main technical capabilities include:

  • steel: maximum diameter of 50.8 mm, with wall thicknesses up to 2 mm;
  • stainless steel: maximum diameter of 45 mm, with wall thicknesses up to 2.5 mm;
  • drawn steel: from 4 to 18 mm;
  • maximum component length: 6 metres;
  • three multi-radius, multi-level tooling stations;
  • reversible right-hand and left-hand bending;
  • fully electric technology.

This configuration ensures precise and repeatable forming, including for complex tubular components intended for series production.

Precision, flexibility and repeatability in production

With this new large-format tube bending machine, GMI can support its customers throughout every stage of their projects, from feasibility studies to industrialisation and production.

The equipment addresses several key industrial requirements:

  • producing complex shapes with a high degree of precision;
  • guaranteeing the dimensional consistency of components;
  • ensuring excellent repeatability in production;
  • rapidly industrialising new product references;
  • manufacturing one-off parts as well as small and medium production runs.

GMI’s in-house tube bending expertise complements the other capabilities of its metalworking division, including tube and sheet laser cutting, press brake bending, manual, robotic and laser welding, finishing, painting, assembly and quality control.

This integrated organisation helps secure every stage of the project and enables GMI to deliver complete metal assemblies ready for integration.

Applications across a wide range of industrial sectors

GMI’s new tube bending capability can be used to manufacture a wide variety of products and metal subassemblies:

  • frames and structural bases;
  • guardrails and barriers;
  • racks and storage equipment;
  • metal supports;
  • tubular frames and structures;
  • complex bent components;
  • custom equipment and installations.

These solutions meet the requirements of numerous markets:

  • agricultural machinery;
  • mobility and special-purpose vehicles;
  • supply chain and materials handling;
  • industrial equipment;
  • food processing;
  • environmental and waste-management applications;
  • design and urban development.

GMI, your industrial partner for welded fabrication projects

With 45 years of expertise in metal processing, Groupe Maillard Industrie supports manufacturers in the design, industrialisation and production of metal assemblies and subassemblies.

Thanks to its in-house engineering department and complementary production resources, GMI processes 120 tonnes of steel every day and manages both simple and complex metal fabrication projects, from one-off components to series production.
